The Ins and Outs of CoolSculpting
CoolSculpting is a revolutionary fat reduction procedure that is non-invasive and requires no dieting and no exercise. This FDA-cleared treatment is a state-of-the-art method of ridding the body of resistant fat that diet and exercise have failed to remove. It is fantastic for stubborn muffin-tops, thigh bulges, spare tires, and stubborn back-fat.
CoolSculpting was developed by Harvard scientists and is a clinically proven procedure with thousands of happy patients that involves freezing fat cells without damage to your skin. A Vacuum pressure is used to pull targeted areas between cooling plates that over a period of an hour cause fat cells to begin a process called cryolipolysis. This breakdown of the fat cells is complete over a period of two to four months, during and after you will see a reduction in the size of the treated areas. There are no needles, and no lasers, and you can watch TV, be on your laptop, or listen to music for the hour during the procedure. After the treatment, you can return to normal activities.
CoolSculpting is performed in “cycles” with each cycle taking an hour and covering one area. Sixty minutes is required for the tissue to reach the correct temperature and cause the fat to shrink. Typically, separate cycles are needed for the upper and lower abdomen (each an hour), and each flank requires separate hour cycles.
The initial few minutes of the process can be uncomfortable, but people do not require relaxation or pain medication. Within about five minutes you will lose sensation in the area and will easily be able to talk on the phone, read, use your computer, or watch TV. Some patients even nap. Afterwards, a few patients may experience short temporary redness, bruising, or mild discomfort in the treated areas. These side effects resolve rather quickly.
You can expect to see the full results in about four months, as the body’s process of removing the fat is gradual and accomplished over time, thus the complete changes are not immediate. Estimates are that the CoolSculpting effects should last between 10 and 15 years, especially in those patients who maintain normal weight levels.
CoolSculpting is ideal for people in good health and with a fairly average weight but with areas of fat that have proven hard to get rid of. Many CoolSculpting patients find their results have given them incentive to begin new habits with diet and exercise that result in further weight loss and enhanced self-esteem.
