CoolSculpting is a non-invasive fat reduction procedure that can help you sculpt and refine stubborn problem areas that aren’t responsive to diet and exercise.

Phoenix CoolSculpting

What is CoolSculpting?

Our Phoenix CoolSculpting treatment is a revolutionary fat reduction procedure that is completely non-invasive. This FDA-cleared treatment is a state of the art method that rids the body of resistant fat that diet and exercise have failed to remove.

It is fantastic for notorious “problem areas,” including stubborn muffin tops, thigh bulges, spare tires, and back fat.

How does CoolSculpting work?

CoolSculpting was developed by Harvard scientists and is a clinically proven procedure with thousands of satisfied patients. It freezes away unwanted fat using vacuum pressure to pull the targeted areas between cooling plates.

The body then begins a process called cryolipolysis, which kills the frozen, unwanted fat cells without harming the surface of your skin. This breakdown of fat takes place over a period of two to four months and gradually leads to a reduction in the size of the treatment areas. Here at Dr. Shapiro's Paradise Valley Skin Klinic, we offer some of the best results in CoolSculpting Scottsdale and its surrounding areas have available.

There are no needles or lasers involved in the CoolSculpting procedure, and the entire experience is very comfortable. In fact, many of our Phoenix clients watch TV, answer emails, work on their laptop, or listen to music during their appointment. After the treatment, you will be free to return to your normal daily routine right away.

Common treatment areas

  • Love handles (muffin tops)
  • Upper and lower abdomen
  • Inner and outer thighs
  • Bra fat (back fat)
  • Upper arms

What to expect during your procedure

At the Paradise Valley Skin Klinic in Scottsdale, our goal is to deliver the best CoolSculpting in Paradise Valley and its surrounding areas. Your procedure will be done in one of our private therapy rooms, while you lie comfortably on the treatment bed.

To begin, we will gently place a gel pad and CoolSculpting applicator on your skin. Once the treatment starts, you will feel a cold sensation, followed by slight tingling, pulling and tugging. These effects will only last for a short time. As the procedure continues, your skin will become numb to the cold temperatures and you will not feel any pain or discomfort.

These effects will only last for a short time. As the procedure continues, your skin will become numb to the cold temperatures and you will not feel any pain or discomfort.

Within about five minutes, you will be able to talk on the phone, read, use your computer, or watch TV. You may experience temporary redness, bruising, or mild discomfort in the treatment area, though these effects will subside very quickly.

Once the CoolSculpting session is complete, your body will immediately begin the process of collapsing the fat cells and naturally processing them from your body. This process typically takes about two to four months, at which point you will see your final results.

As a non-surgical and non-invasive fat reduction procedure, there isn’t any downtime associated with CoolSculpting. As such, you will be free to return to work and resume your normal daily routine right away.

How long is the procedure and how many sessions will I need?

CoolSculpting is performed in “cycles,” with each cycle taking about an hour and covering one area. A full 60 minutes is typically required for the tissue to reach the correct temperature that will result in cell death. Typically, separate cycles are needed for the upper and lower abdomen (each one hour) and each flank requires separate hourly cycles.

Most of our patients require two to three Phoenix CoolSculpting sessions, however it is possible to achieve your ideal results with just one treatment. Ultimately, your treatment plan will be customized based on your ideal end result and how much fat you currently have.

Are you a candidate?

Our team can help you determine if CoolSculpting fat reduction is right for you during a private, complimentary consultation at Paradise Valley Skin Klinic™. Typically, the best CoolSculpting candidates are:

  • In good overall health
  • Close to their ideal body weight
  • Committed to a healthy diet and exercise plan

In general, we recommend CoolSculpting to Scottsdale men and women who are generally healthy and fit, but have stubborn pockets of fat that are difficult to remove with diet and exercise alone. The procedure is not appropriate for patients who are more than 30 pounds overweight, as it is not a weight-loss surgery.

Practice Policy Update Regarding COVID-19

Dear Patients,

It is with great pleasure that I announce the reopening of my practice for both surgical and non-surgical services on May 1, 2020. As per the governor Ducey's executive order on April 22, 2020, elective surgery has been allowed to proceed, with appropriate precautions taken by health care professionals to ensure continued vigilance against the spread of Covid-19.

Our office staff and the staff of Paradise Valley Cosmetic Surgery Center and Surgical Recovery Center have proactively taken necessary precautions to meet strict criterion for health providers according to the state of Arizona. These include necessary patient screening for Covid-19, strict protocols for cleaning offices and treatment rooms, adequate PPE, and continued social distancing. As before, waiting areas will have minimal capacity, and friends and family members should not accompany one into offices or treatment areas.

With great anticipation we welcome you back to the practice, and wish you all continued health and safety.

Sincerely, Daniel Shapiro MD, FACS
