Planning Your Procedure What Are Your Options?

Male facial rejuvenation with Dr. Shapiro is completely tailored to your needs and goals. Here’s a quick look at the procedures that may be a part of your treatment experience:

Traditional Facelift

The traditional facelift tightens and rejuvenates the entire face – around the cheeks, mouth, chin and neck.

As such, it tends to be most appropriate for our male clients in their 50s and 60s.

Cheek Lift

The cheek lift, or midface lift, is a new minimally invasive procedure designed to lift the cheek and midface region. The cheek lift can improve the appearance of nasolabial folds, sagging of the cheeks and midface, and prominent lower eye sockets in order to provide a more youthful appearance.

Male Facial Rejuvenation Before & After

Patient is a 46-year-old Belgian male who works as an international art buyer in a very youthful industry. He reflects that he was very handsome when he was younger and wishes to regain the angularity and striking features that he once had. Specifically, he dislikes the heaviness of his brow, his prominent jowls and full neck that make him appear both tired and angry. He feels that he is looking like his father who is much older. He desires to have a more contoured face, with youthful angularity and definition, much like he had fifteen to twenty years ago.

GenX Lift

Dr. Shapiro has pioneered a whole new arena for diminishing the signs of aging. GenXLift™ is a minimally invasive, customized-for-you procedure, designed specifically for people of Generation X, or between the ages of 33 and 53. During the procedure, Dr. Shapiro uses processes of fat transfer, laser therapy, tightening treatments, and a short-scar facelift to produce a more youthful appearance. Since the procedure is less invasive than traditional procedures, the recovery period is lessened, the procedure can be performed in-office, and your cost is reduced.

In addition to your facelift procedure, many men rejuvenate their faces with complementary surgeries – such as a brow lift, eyelid surgery, and/or facial liposuction.

Once your procedure has healed, we may also recommend non-surgical maintenance treatments – such as laser skin resurfacing, microdermabrasion, or chemical peels to keep your complexion looking its best.

Are you ready for a facelift?

There is no perfect time for a facelift. In general, patients are “ready” when they have loose skin on the face and neck and want to rejuvenate their looks. In addition, our male clients should have the following characteristics to be considered candidates:

  • Realistic expectations for what surgery can accomplish
  • Good general health

During your initial consultation, our team will review your medical history and aesthetic goals to help you determine if a facelift is right for you.

What to expect during your procedure

Depending on which technique is recommended, your procedure will be done under general or local anesthesia. To begin, Dr. Shapiro will create your incisions. These will be carefully placed within the hairline and your natural facial creases so that they are virtually impossible to detect once you have healed.

Through those openings, he will remove precise amounts of excess skin and fat, tighten lax muscles, and improve your facial contours. These enhancements will be done with a conservative hand to ensure organic results. If you are also having eyelid surgery or a brow lift done, these procedures will be performed at this time as well.

Once the underlying structures have been reshaped, Dr. Shapiro will re-drape the skin, close the incisions, and trim away any excess tissue.
