PhotoFractional is a non-ablative, comprehensive skin resurfacing treatment that is designed to improve texture irregularities and correct hyperpigmentation.

How Does the Technology Work?

PhotoFractional blends two powerful technologies – Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and ResurFX – to produce comprehensive skin rejuvenation benefits. Over a series of sessions, the technology can restore a smoother, clearer and more youthful appearance.

First, IPL is performed to remove pigmentation, age spots and sun spots. Then, the ResurFX laser is used on the skin to stimulate collagen production, minimize fine lines and wrinkles, and even out your skin tone and texture.

The Benefits

PhotoFractional is a multi-faceted solution that addresses a broad range of skin issues. While ResurFX targets signs of aging like facial lines and texture issues, IPL treats blood vessels and unwanted pigmentation. When combined, they have the power to:

  • Correct pigmentation issues
  • Minimize age spots and sun spots
  • Soften fine lines and facial wrinkles

What Causes Hyperpigmentation?

What sets PhotoFractional apart from the competition is that it smooths your skin’s texture and corrects hyperpigmentation – most solutions only target one of these problems.

Hyperpigmentation develops due to an array of factors, including age, environmental elements and certain skin conditions. If you have tanned for many years, spend a lot of time outdoors or are exposed to pollution or wind on a regular basis, you’re at a heightened risk of developing pigmentation issues.

What to Expect During the Procedure

Your PhotoFractional treatments will be done in the privacy of our medical spa. A typical treatment takes roughly 45 minutes, depending on the area being targeted. To begin, a topical anesthetic numbing cream will be applied to ensure your comfort. At the very most, our clients report a mild stinging sensation.

After treatment, you will return home immediately. You may notice some redness and swelling, but these effects should dissipate within a few days. You will probably feel comfortable returning to work within a day or two, but it’s important to protect your skin from the sun as you will be more sensitive than usual.

The Results

PhotoFractional treatments work deep beneath the surface of your skin to stimulate collagen production over a series of several sessions. Though you may see an improvement after just one appointment, most of our patients need multiple visits spaced one month apart for optimal results. The results will continue to progress for six months after your final treatment as your body completes the process of producing fresh collagen.

Practice Policy Update Regarding COVID-19

Dear Patients:

Your safety is our number one priority. Please know that we join our community in taking advised precautions to limit the spread of the Coronavirus. For the time being we are planning on continuing practice as usual, with some additional precautions.

We have always routinely wiped down our office and patient exam chairs with medical-grade sanitizing wipes. We will expand this to include door knobs, toilet and faucet handles and will have hand-sanitizer available to you at check-in.

No staff will be allowed to come to work with a cough or fever, or if they have had contact with anyone with confirmed Coronavirus. We kindly ask for the same considerations from you. If you have any flu-like symptoms or have recently traveled, please call the office to reschedule your appointment.

We appreciate your flexibility as we will be limiting routine follow-up appointments over the next few weeks and ask patients to not bring friends and family members to their appointments to avoid the amount of patients we have in the office at one time. If you have any questions, comments or concerns please call and let us know.

Sincerely, Daniel Shapiro MD, FACS
