The male physique is strong, and there is nothing natural about excessive curves anywhere on a man’s body. Vaser Liposuction can permanently reduce unwanted fat pockets of the male chest, breast, back, and hips. Similarly as in women, skin must re-drape to the body contour created, with good skin contractility enabling a smooth and even result. This optimized skin tightening is a result of the Vaser Liposuction technology that enables heat to be placed on the underside of the skin, which promotes skin tightening, improving the final appearance.

As in liposuction performed in women, a post-operative compressive garment is worn for 3-6 weeks to stabilize and compress the skin to enhance the final result. In patients where liposuction exceeds 2500cc, an overnight stay at the Paradise Valley Surgical Recovery Center is suggested, to continue intravenous hydration and maximize control of any discomfort, and optimize physical condition prior to discharge.

In patients who possess more skin that can be addressed with liposuction alone, skin excision is suggested. Unwanted skin of the arms is removed through a Brachioplasty. An Abdominoplasty serves to remove unwanted skin and stretch marks form the abdomen, and when needed, tighten weakened muscles resulting from significant weight fluctuations. Occasionally, excess skin is removed from the medial and lateral thighs by performing a Thigh Lift; and when performed in conjunction with an Abdominoplasty, is called a Body Lift.

These procedures enable patients to obtain the strong contours associated with male physiques that are simply not possible without removal of unwanted skin. Patients are always admitted to the Paradise Valley Surgical Recovery Center at least overnight to ensure ongoing safety and comfort.

Enlarged breasts in men can be a source of shame and embarrassment. Whether this condition occurs in adolescence or in adult years, there are procedures available to restore a more masculine, proportioned chest that enhances self-esteem. There are many causes of gynecomastia, including hormonal imbalances, steroid or other specific medication history, and a history of marijuana use. Gynecomastia can range from small nodules of tissue beneath the nipple to enlarged female appearing breasts.

Depending on the consistency of the underlying breast tissue, there are a spectrum of male breast reduction procedures that can be utilized to give outstanding results.Ultrasonic liposuction(VASER) can be used alone in the majority of cases of enlarged breasts in men to remove underlying fibrous tissue and help contract excess skin to promote a flat chest with muscular definition.

In those patients with palpable nodules behind the nipples, ultrasonic liposuction is combined with a small incision placed inconspicuously around the areola to directly remove the hard glandular tissue, greatly enhancing the final result.

Practice Policy Update Regarding COVID-19

Dear Patients,

It is with great pleasure that I announce the reopening of my practice for both surgical and non-surgical services on May 1, 2020. As per the governor Ducey's executive order on April 22, 2020, elective surgery has been allowed to proceed, with appropriate precautions taken by health care professionals to ensure continued vigilance against the spread of Covid-19.

Our office staff and the staff of Paradise Valley Cosmetic Surgery Center and Surgical Recovery Center have proactively taken necessary precautions to meet strict criterion for health providers according to the state of Arizona. These include necessary patient screening for Covid-19, strict protocols for cleaning offices and treatment rooms, adequate PPE, and continued social distancing. As before, waiting areas will have minimal capacity, and friends and family members should not accompany one into offices or treatment areas.

With great anticipation we welcome you back to the practice, and wish you all continued health and safety.

Sincerely, Daniel Shapiro MD, FACS
