How Does the Technology Work?

The Erbium laser targets the epidermis – otherwise known as the outer layer of your skin. By removing this tissue, it reveals the smooth, youthful layer that exists just beneath the surface. The process also stimulates the production of fresh collagen, which delivers additional skin tightening benefits.

What is the Erbium Laser?

The Erbium laser treatment removes the surface layers of your skin, where wrinkles, lines, pigmentation and other imperfections exist.

  • Treats aging skin on the face, neck, back, chest, and hands
  • FDA-approved for smoothing fine lines and moderate wrinkles
  • Safe and effective for many patients

How to Prepare for Laser Resurfacing

There are several steps that you will need to take to prepare your body for Erbium laser resurfacing. To begin, you will need to stop taking any medications and supplements that may affect clotting – including aspirin and ibuprofen for at least ten days. You will also need to stop smoking for two weeks before and after the procedure, as cigarettes can negatively impact your healing process.

Prescription medications will be given prior to treatment to make sure we avoid cold sores or fever blisters as well as a preventive antibiotic to avoid an infection at all costs. You will meet with Dr. Shapiro and one of our experienced aestheticians to “pre-treat” your skin with prescription strength skincare products prior to your treatments to achieve optimal results.
