What is a PRP facial?

A PRP facial harnesses the combined power of microneedling and platelet-rich plasma. First, microneedling is performed to stimulate collagen production by creating a series of microscopic wounds in the skin. After microneedling, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is applied to the wounded skin.

This is the portion of your blood that has a heightened level of growth factors and healing properties.  Once in place, the PRP reaches the deep layers beneath the surface and triggers new elastin and collagen production. Over time, these proteins improve surface imperfections and restore a radiant complexion.

The benefits

Our PRP facial is a powerful, all-natural procedure that can deliver beautiful skin benefits – without surgery. When done correctly and consistently, it can:

When done correctly and consistently, it can:

  • Improve the appearance of crow’s feet
  • Minimize forehead wrinkles
  • Restore a bright complexion
  • Reduce acne scars

Are you a candidate?

Because the PRP facial is completely non-surgical and safe for all skin types and colors, most of our clients can be considered ideal candidates. However, it’s important to note that this treatment is not appropriate for advanced wrinkles or sagging skin. It’s best for younger patients with early signs of aging.

As such, our older clients may require a different procedure, such as dermal fillers or BOTOX. During your initial consultation, our experienced aestheticians will assess your skin and help you determine the best way to achieve your unique aesthetic goals.

What to expect during your treatment

Your PRP facial will be done in the privacy of one of our soothing treatment rooms. To begin, one of our highly-trained aestheticians will cleanse your skin and draw a small amount of blood. We will then spin the blood in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma for the treatment. We will then apply a numbing cream to your face to ensure your comfort, before performing your microneedling procedure. This treatment may be done in one of two ways:

  • Standard microneedling. This approach uses fine needles to puncture the skin and create controlled injuries at varying depths. During the appointment, we will roll the device over the target area to create micro-wounds that trigger the development of fresh collagen.
  • Fractora microneedling. Fractora is a radiofrequency (RF) microneedling device that is part of the InMode system. During treatment, we will gently move the handpiece to different locations on the surface of your skin. The device will create physical micro-injuries and zones of thermal heating at varying depths. Over a period of time, these zones will heal with the surrounding skin to increase collagen production.

Finally, we will apply the PRP topically on your skin, where it will enter the deepest layers through the wounds created by the microneedling procedure. The entire appointment should last about 45 minutes, at which point you will be free to return home. You may resume your normal daily activities the very next day.

The results

Your PRP facial results will emerge gradually. You may notice that your complexion looks slightly more luminous within a few days. In four to six weeks, your collagen production will be complete, and your results will be considered final.

As a general rule, most of our clients require two to three PRP facials spaced one month apart for optimal results. However, some patients may achieve their goals with just one treatment.
