What is HALO Laser Resurfacing by Sciton?

Long-term sun exposure, or just the effects of living your life each and every day can take a toll on your skin. Visible signs of aging such as wrinkles, age spots, discoloration, and skin laxity can cause you to look for an effective treatment for skin rejuvenation. What can I expect during my HALO Laser Resurfacing treatment?

When you arrive for your HALO treatment, your expert aesthetician will apply a medical grade topical numbing cream to the treatment area. the topical cream has had time to allow for comfortable treatment, the HALO laser skin resurfacing will begin. Your aesthetician will use the work in a crisscross pattern on the damaged areas of your skin. The HALO device’s technology has built-in safety measures and recognizes when the treatment is complete.

How long will my appointment take?

Each patient is unique and has different skincare goals. Depending on the procedure, timing can vary, but typically, you should be in and out within two hours.

Will I experience any pain with my HALO treatment?

Most patients experience minimal discomfort with a topical anesthetic and the HALO’s integrated cooling technology. You may feel a slight prickling sensation as the device crisscrosses over your skin.

Are there any side effects with laser resurfacing?

Once your treatment is over, you might feel some sensitivity to the area. Your skin may appear a bit flushed, similar to a minor sunburn. There could be a bit of swelling that will resolve itself quickly.

Will I need more than one HALO Laser Resurfacing treatment?

HALO is a complete skin rejuvenation treatment. The HALO laser technology is significantly more advanced and flexible than earlier skin treatment options, which means it can take fewer treatments than in the past to address most issues. You can choose to have one or two more aggressive treatments or decide that you’d rather take your time with a less aggressive approach but choose to undergo milder treatments more often. Determining the number of treatments that you need will be determined with the help of Dr. Shapiro.

When will I see results?

After your first HALO treatment, you will start to see improvement in your skin’s tone and texture in two and five days. Progress will continue to build with most patients seeing the most dramatic improvements in about three weeks. Significant improvement in your skin’s tone and texture can be seen with just one HALO treatment. A series of treatments are typically recommended for certain issues such as acne scars.

Practice Policy Update Regarding COVID-19

Dear Patients:

Your safety is our number one priority. Please know that we join our community in taking advised precautions to limit the spread of the Coronavirus. For the time being we are planning on continuing practice as usual, with some additional precautions.

We have always routinely wiped down our office and patient exam chairs with medical-grade sanitizing wipes. We will expand this to include door knobs, toilet and faucet handles and will have hand-sanitizer available to you at check-in.

No staff will be allowed to come to work with a cough or fever, or if they have had contact with anyone with confirmed Coronavirus. We kindly ask for the same considerations from you. If you have any flu-like symptoms or have recently traveled, please call the office to reschedule your appointment.

We appreciate your flexibility as we will be limiting routine follow-up appointments over the next few weeks and ask patients to not bring friends and family members to their appointments to avoid the amount of patients we have in the office at one time. If you have any questions, comments or concerns please call and let us know.

Sincerely, Daniel Shapiro MD, FACS
