With age and gravity, visual signs of an aging face and neckline aging may include loose skin, descending fat, and deep wrinkles. As these signs continue to develop, they can cause self-confidence issues and reduce self-esteem. A surgical neck lift in Scottsdale is a very effective procedure in reducing these effects, but even a minimally invasive surgical procedure is too much for some patients.

Thankfully, there are non-invasive options for patients who want the results of a neck lift but do not want to have surgery. Dr. Shapiro offers several procedures that can be used in combination to effectively lift the neck and sharpen the jawline, including topical ultrasonic liposuction, non-invasive skin tightening, fat grafting along the jawline, and the all-new Nefertiti Neck lift.

Nefertiti Neck lift

The ancient Egyptians prized a long, beautiful neck; their Queen Nefertiti was infamous for her slender and crisp neck. Named for the royal beauty, the Nefertiti Neck lift is the ultimate neck lift without surgery.

This procedure uses Botox to redefine the neck and jawline by smoothing, lifting, and tightening the area. Injections are placed along the lower jawline and down the sides of the neck. The toxin causes the neck muscles, skin, and wrinkles to relax.

Once the muscles are relaxed in the neck, the facial muscles will actually overcome the pull of the neck muscles, and help lift the fat and skin into place. The net effect is a shapely jawline, a youthful neck, and a smooth lower face.

The procedure will correct skin laxity and wrinkles in neck by tightening the neck muscles, as well as correcting jowls and a sagging jawline. To maintain enhancement, this procedure needs to be repeated every 3 to 4 months. You also could add additional procedures to your face to improve your facial aesthetics. Dr. Shapiro, a renowned Scottsdale plastic surgeon, can recommend options to meet your goals.

Ultrasonic Liposuction

This minimally invasive option uses topical ultrasonic energy to melt fat cells beneath the skin. Rather than using a larger cannula for suction, a small needle is used to remove fat.

The ultrasonic energy also activates skin retraction by heating connective, elastic tissues in the skin. The overall effect is reduced fat in the jawline, tighter skin, and a youthful neckline. Visit the neck liposuction page for more info.

Fat Grafting

A youthful jaw and upper neck are crisp and tight. It is common that as people age, the skin on the face tends to migrate south, creating hanging skin and fat over the edge of the jawline (jowling).

Dr. Shapiro can soften beginning jowls with a simple fat grafting procedure. By adding volume at the jaw, the skin will be less deflated and tighter thus making the jawline appear more crisp.

Fat transfer is a very simple procedure that uses the patient’s own fat from another area of the body, most commonly the abdomen, flanks, or thighs. Improved contour in these areas is an added benefit to jawline fat grafting.

Practice Policy Update Regarding COVID-19

Dear Patients:

Your safety is our number one priority. Please know that we join our community in taking advised precautions to limit the spread of the Coronavirus. For the time being we are planning on continuing practice as usual, with some additional precautions.

We have always routinely wiped down our office and patient exam chairs with medical-grade sanitizing wipes. We will expand this to include door knobs, toilet and faucet handles and will have hand-sanitizer available to you at check-in.

No staff will be allowed to come to work with a cough or fever, or if they have had contact with anyone with confirmed Coronavirus. We kindly ask for the same considerations from you. If you have any flu-like symptoms or have recently traveled, please call the office to reschedule your appointment.

We appreciate your flexibility as we will be limiting routine follow-up appointments over the next few weeks and ask patients to not bring friends and family members to their appointments to avoid the amount of patients we have in the office at one time. If you have any questions, comments or concerns please call and let us know.

Sincerely, Daniel Shapiro MD, FACS
