A common side effect of aging includes wrinkles around the mouth and lost elasticity; our skin just doesn’t bounce back as easily as it used to. Restylane Defyne® aims to fill and restore the face’s deepest lines to their original glory, without sacrificing the ability to project emotions. Smoothing out wrinkles is a useless accomplishment without the ability to retain a natural-looking face that can still be filled with emotion.

Similar to Restylane Refyne®, Restylane Defyne® is used to treat the areas around the mouth known as the nasolabial folds (laugh lines) and marionette lines.

Restylane Defyne® plumps and fills deep-set lines around the mouth with hyaluronic acid to improve elasticity and smooth out the skin. This state-of-the-art procedure can give patients back the aesthetic finish they deserve.

With over 95 years of combined experience, the staff at Shapiro Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and Skin Klinic is proud to offer Restylane Defyne® to our clients, led by Dr. Shapiro. If you are in the Scottsdale area in Arizona and are interested in receiving a Restylane Defyne® injection, contact us to schedule a consultation. We look forward to hearing from you!

What is Restylane Defyne®?

Restylane Defyne® is a dermal filler made of hyaluronic acid that works to replace the lost hyaluronic acid in the skin (less hyaluronic acid means less elasticity). Thanks to XpresHAn technology, Restylane Defyne® can last for up to 12 months after treatment, depending on post treatment care. Staying away from makeup is important after receiving an injectable to avoid infection and other side effects.

Restylane Defyne® acts immediately to create a desirable aesthetic effect and patients experience a relatively short recovery time. After treatment, patients reported noticing that their face looked natural when smiling and when at rest, as well as more accurately displaying the emotion they were feeling.

What are the Side Effects?

Every patient is different, but short-term side effects at the injection site may include:

  • Bruising
  • Itching
  • Pain/tenderness
  • Redness
  • Swelling

Side effects depend on the individual patient’s constitution as well as injection speed and injection volume. Consult with our medical team about any of your concerns regarding the side effects of Restylane Defyne®.

If you have moderate to severe nasolabial folds and marionette lines, Restylane Defyne® may be your way back to a youthful appearance.

Contact us to schedule a consultation where our medical team will discuss your expectations with you, as well as anything that may disqualify you from receiving Restylane Defyne® injections.

Practice Policy Update Regarding COVID-19

Dear Patients:

Your safety is our number one priority. Please know that we join our community in taking advised precautions to limit the spread of the Coronavirus. For the time being we are planning on continuing practice as usual, with some additional precautions.

We have always routinely wiped down our office and patient exam chairs with medical-grade sanitizing wipes. We will expand this to include door knobs, toilet and faucet handles and will have hand-sanitizer available to you at check-in.

No staff will be allowed to come to work with a cough or fever, or if they have had contact with anyone with confirmed Coronavirus. We kindly ask for the same considerations from you. If you have any flu-like symptoms or have recently traveled, please call the office to reschedule your appointment.

We appreciate your flexibility as we will be limiting routine follow-up appointments over the next few weeks and ask patients to not bring friends and family members to their appointments to avoid the amount of patients we have in the office at one time. If you have any questions, comments or concerns please call and let us know.

Sincerely, Daniel Shapiro MD, FACS
