What to Expect When You Get Botox

Perhaps you’ve been contemplating trying out Botox, but still aren’t quite sure if it’s right for you. You might have heard a thing or two about it from friends or family, but still have some questions. Yes, it can be a little nerve-racking making that first appointment, but by learning the facts, you can prepare yourself for the procedure and feel confident about your decision.

The reality is that Botox injections are one of the world’s most commonly performed cosmetic procedures. Not only is Botox safe and effective, it’s a quick and virtually painless procedure that has helped millions of men and women eliminate unwanted lines and wrinkles.

At the Paradise Valley Skin Klinic, we get asked questions daily about Botox. From queries about pricing to concerns about whether the procedure is painful, we encourage all questions, and do our best to answer them completely.

With our special Mother’s Day Botox event happening on Friday, May 6th, we thought we’d share with you a few of our most commonly asked questions. And, we encourage you to call the PVSK directly to get more information or to schedule an appointment.

Now, on to those questions:

Do Botox injections hurt?
Because Botox is injected through an extremely small needed. Most patients feel little or no pain at all. For those who feel mild discomfort, the areas that will be injected can be numbed with ice or a topical anesthetic cream.

Will I see instant results?
No, the results are not instant. You will begin to see results within three to seven days. If you are not happy with the results after two weeks, you should schedule an appointment to be re-evaluated.

How much does it cost?
There is no one answer to this question. Pricing depends on how many units of Botox will be injected into each area that you want treated.

Besides the lines on my forehead, where else can Botox be used?
Botox can be used on far more than those frown lines. It can also treat:

Crow’s feet Lip creases Marionette lines Smile lines

As well, it can be used to lift the brow, elevate the corners of the mouth, soften the chin, improve the appearance of facial scars, and even rejuvenate the appearance of the neck.

Will I bruise?
Bruising after injection of Botox happens less than 20% of the time. Cold packs immediately after injection can help, as well as avoiding aspirin and blood thinning supplements such as fish oil prior to your procedure. The herb Arnica Montana taken either before or immediately after injection may also help with bruising.

How long will it last?
To maintain the best results, plan on repeating treatment every three to six months. Wrinkles will gradually appear as the effect of the Botox wears off.

Hopefully, that answers a few of your questions! And just a reminder that the Mother’s Day Botox Event is booking up quickly, so reserve your spot today to take advantage of special discount pricing!
