TREND ALERT: BARE SKIN IS IN AND MORE FROM THE GOLDEN GLOBES RED CARPET

The people have spoken and bare skin is the IT beauty trend for 2015. Spotted all over the red carpet at various award shows this week, gone are the days of heavily contoured foundation and concealer, and fresh, radiant skin is the look everyone is after. Now if you’re thinking that you could never bare it all, thanks to pigmentation, dryness, uneven skin tone (the list unforutntately goes on…) you’re dead wrong. So, how is this radiant, fresh and youthful look achieved? Yes, there is some ‘legwork’ that goes into getting your skin into bare it all condition, starting with deep exfoliating facials, laser treatments to address the pigmentation and tone, and other tips and tricks your aesthetician can tell you, but once your skin is performing at optimum level, it’s the moisturizer, and maybe a tiny bit of concealer that ties the whole look together. From what we’ve seen on the carpets so far this year, it might be time to trash your foundation for good.

72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards - Arrivals
Julianne Moore at the 2015 Golden Globes Awards

Leave it to Lupita Nyong’o to defy our expectations for red-carpet hair and makeup once again: She may not have been nominated for an award at the 2015 Golden Globes but the actress laid claim to her title as our favorite rule-breaker for the second year in a row by matching her Giambattista Valli Haute Couture dress with a more-is-more swirl of lilac eyeshadow, pop of fuscia lipstick and a knockout crop of grown-out curls.  Julianne Moore also embraced a hint of high-glam spirit: Rather than tone down their makeup, they went for sharply shaded smoky eye makeup and stained lips that upped the impact of their flashing metallic dresses. She wasn’t the only English rose who stood out from the pack: Fellow Brits Rosamund Pike, Sienna Miller, and Emily Blunt were amongst the evening’s most striking invitees—reimagining the traditional red-carpet beauty formula with easy hair, supernatural skin, and a healthy glow that felt like a breathe of fresh air. Proof that all you really need to shine on the red carpet may be a few swipes of mascara—and the right moisturizer.

We’re loving the au naturale look we are seeing so far! What do you think?
