Don’t Let Your Skin Tell the Story of Your Summer

The Arizona sun has so many benefits but one downside to it is the effect it has on our skin. With the intense rays shining down fine lines, color spots, wrinkles and discoloration are abundant. Sometimes it seems that even with the most diligent protection, the sun still gets you. Laser Skin Resurfacing addresses these problems by providing a superficial and a deep skin solution.

Laser Skin Resurfacing improves the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, scars, enlarged pores, and areas of discoloration while simultaneously promoting collagen growth to tighten the skin. Laser skin resurfacing uses laser light to target the superficial and deep layers of the skin to attain these results. Dr. Shapiro provides two types of laser resurfacing in order to meet your individual needs.

The most commonly used ablative laser is called The Erbium: Yag laser which has the ability to precisely remove layers of skin while adding a component that causes significant skin tightening. Older CO2 lasers could provide some of these results but The Erbium: Yag laser reduces healing times, redness prolongation, and loss of pigmentation.

The Sciton Erbium: Yag laser is the other type of laser resurfacing Dr. Shapiro offers. This procedure is used in the operating room with anesthesia as it treats the deepest layers of skin. Incredible results can be achieved by The Sciton Erbium:Yag laser in appropriate patients when used either along or in conjunction with procedures
such as face lifts. This laser can be used for darker skinned patients and produces extraordinary results for acne scarring, fine or deeper skin wrinkles, enlarged pores, and irregular skin pigmentation. Healing time is long than with the lighter laser but is generally routine consisting of what looks like a deep sunburn that lasts for 7-10 days and is treated with topical crèmes.
