Fixing the Tip of the Nose without Rhinoplasty

Hi I’m doctor Dan Shapiro Im a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of plastic surgeon I’ve been practicing the Scottsdale Paradise Valley area since 1992. And I only perform cosmetic surgery or aesthetic surgery.

I’m hear to talk to you about noses, a very common question that I have is, is it possible to fix the tip of my nose without extensive nasal surgery? The answer is yes. I see a lot of patients for rhinoplasty and a lot of people who don’t like certain things about their nose. Most commonly because they have bumps, or they feel it is too wide, or to bulbous and occasionally people come in with only complaints about only the tip of their nose. Most commonly people come in and I like to approach the nose completely. That is to say of course we want a very proportioned, very smooth and balanced result, and that usually entails some modification to the nasal bones, the mid nasal cartilage, that is a full rhinoplasty.

Occasional as I said about 25% of the time people come in and say they don’t like just the tip of their nose, and on rare occasions people may have a lack of nasal bumps,it may be nice and smooth, but doesn’t match the rest of the nose. In that occasion a tip rhinoplasty can be performed. The nice thing about that is it’s a very short recovery because I don’t have to break the patient’s nose, basically the recovery is only the tip swelling and there may be a few stitches but usually recovery is only about a week. The nice thing is there is no lingering bruising and generally much less swelling, much of the swelling and bruising is when I break the patient’s nose to make the nasal bones narrower.

So the answer to the question is yes, you can have just the tip modified and usually people get an Idea after having a consultation, we go through the same process even if it’s just the tip modification or a full rhinoplasty, I like to take pictures, I like to image the nose, I like to have patients come back with noses they like and look at my images that I imaged and modified and make sure we are on the same page. The most common reason for patients dissatisfaction is lack of communication. So, whether we it’s a tip rhinoplasty or a full rhinoplasty I like to make sure we are on the same page. If you need a full rhinoplasty or just a tip rhinoplasty just come in for a consultation, thank you.
