Breast Augmentation Series: Implant Projection

The final decision you must make before undergoing a breast augmentation surgery is the implant projection. The projection of the implant affects the breast’s final profile and determines the fullness of the top of the breast.

There are generally two different choices for the implant projection available, high and low or medium profile, with ranges in between. An implant with a high profile projection will make the breast appear spherical, with equal fullness on the top and the bottom. An implant with a low or medium profile projection will achieve a teardrop shape, where the breast is more full on the bottom than the top.

The type of implant does not determine what kind of projection you can achieve as both saline and silicone gel implants come in low, medium, and high profiles.
