For better or for worse, it’s almost always swimsuit season in Phoenix. That means we need to be swimsuit ready all the time. One of the trickiest areas to get under control is the upper thigh area. Everyone suffers from cellulite but age and weight loss exaggerate the area. A thigh lift is designed to remove excess skin and fat from the upper leg resulting in a tighter and more beautiful curve.
There are two types of thigh lifts that Dr. Shapiro performs, the medial (inner) thigh lift and the posterior (outer) thigh lift. The medial thigh lift is ideal for patients with mild excess skin and fat in the inner thigh. This procedure involves a minimal incision made only in the groin area, down the crease where the thigh meets the pubic area; the scar can easily be hidden under a swimsuit or undergarments. This procedure is effective for the removal of excess fat and tightening of the skin.
The posterior thigh lift is appropriate for patients with moderate to significant skin laxity and excess fat in the thigh. It is especially recommended for patients who have lost weight. In this procedure the extra skin and fat is excised and the thigh is lifted into place using internal deep support sutures and external sutures to close the incision. The incisions may be placed with your favorite swimsuit in mind so that remaining scars are hidden.
