Scottsdale Surgical Buttock Lift
A true buttock lift is meant for patients who have severe loss of elasticity in the skin, so much that sagging of the skin has occurred in the buttocks area. This 'melting' appearance is due most often to weight loss or aging. It is also used in cases that reduction of the buttocks is desired, in which liposuction may also be used for fat removal and reduction.
Buttock Lift Procedure
The surgical buttock lift is more invasive than the fat transfer procedure. It is performed by excising skin from the top of the buttocks, removing extra fat and skin, then suturing the buttock vertically, thereby lifting it into a more youthful position and pulling tight any wrinkles and sagging. In the case of reduction, liposuction may also be used to remove extra fat.
Surgical Buttock Lift Recovery
Drains may be left in the incisions to aid in fluid draining from the body. This keeps you safe from developing a seroma—a pocket of fluid that gets stuck beneath the skin and causes complications. The critical recovery period is between a week and ten days, which occurs in our Scottsdale facility. It is normal for the buttocks to feel odd or even numb near the incision site. Though it may take a month or so, you will soon begin to feel normal. The scars left from a buttock lift are usually restricted to above the buttocks, easily hidden by underwear or a bikini bottom.
