Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)
An Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) is a procedure that removes excess skin and fat from the lower abdomen and tightens the abdominal muscles that have separated as a result of weight gain or pregnancy and cannot be corrected by diet or exercise alone. An abdominoplasty is particularly helpful to women who through pregnancy have stretched their abdomen so far that it does not return to it’s normal shape. A full abdominoplasty tightens the entire weakened abdominal wall with internal sutures restoring a lovely, shapely abdomen, while simultaneously skin from the belly button to the pubic hairline is removed, effectively removing stretch marks and scars. Occasionally a Miniabdominoplasty can be performed when abdominal laxity is limited to below the belly button, and minimal skin removal is necessary. With a miniabdominoplasty, the scar is limited to just above the pubic hairline.
