Rhinoplasty

A Rhinoplasty (nasalplasty) is a cosmetic surgery of the nose whereby the nasal shape is altered to a more pleasing, proportioned appearance. The underlying cartilage and bone of the nose is sculpted to the desired shape, usually through a small external incision placed along the columella, which is the vertical strip of tissue separating the nostrils. Generally, the profile of the nose is improved by removing excess bone, and the width of the nose in narrowed by moving the nasal bones centrally. Cartilage exists in the lower two-thirds of the nose, and this is modified to produce a more elegant and refined nasal tip that is more proportioned and balanced with the rest of the face. A rhinoplasty can accentuate other facial features bringing more attention to the eyes, cheekbones, and lips and remarkably bring facial features into harmony.
