The implant position (either above or below the pectoralis muscle), incision placement (in the armpit, around the nipple, or at the breast fold), breast implant type (saline or silicone gel), and implant size and shape are important factors when arriving at a final decision regarding Breast Augmentation.
Breast Implant Position
Breast implants can be placed either under the breast tissue which is over the pectoralis muscle, or under both the breast tissue and pectoralis muscle. Most of the patients in my Phoenix/Scottsdale Breast Augmentation practice have implants placed under the muscle, as there tends to be a more natural result by having more tissue covering the implant and a lower rate of complications including less incidence of capsular contraction.
