Fall Is a Perfect Time for Fraxel

September 23rd marked the official end of summer. While you may be packing away your swimsuits, sun hats and pool towels, your face may still be showing signs of summer damage. Fall is the perfect time to rediscover the fresh, healthy skin of your youth. Whether you have sun damage, wrinkles, or other signs of aging, Fraxel treatment is able to deliver remarkable results with fast recovery. You can quickly return to work or other activities with renewed skin — and renewed confidence.

What is Fraxel?
Fraxel is the first fractional laser skin resurfacing device on the market. Fractional laser skin resurfacing is one of the most popular technologies for rejuvenating and improving the look of aging skin. Fraxel lasers deliver light (heat) through the skin’s epidermis and into its dermis (underlying layer) at varying but extremely precise depths. Unlike other types of lasers, the heat is delivered in a “fractional” manner, meaning that the laser device splits the laser light into thousands of microscopic “columns” of heat. The targeted skin cells within these columns are destroyed, but the surrounding tissue is left intact. So, while the laser is passed over 100 percent of the skin’s surface area, only 20 to 30 percent of the skin is treated. As a result, the skin is able to heal much more quickly.

What Can Fraxel Treat?
Fraxel can treat facial skin, including around the lips, eyes and the eyelids, as well as body parts including neck, chest, arms, and hands. Fraxel lasers have received multiple FDA clearances and have been found safe and effective in treating many areas of the face and body. Sun spots, acne, surgical scars, fine lines, wrinkles, and melasma can all be treated by one of three Fraxel lasers.

Two of the lasers, Fraxel re:fine and Fraxel re:store are non-ablative. This means that they don’t remove the top layer of skin. These lasers provide the mildest treatment and are perfect for minimizing fine lines around the eyes as well as “age” spots and other types of light pigmentation. Fraxel re:pair is an ablative laser that also treats the skin fractionally, but unlike the others, removes all layers of the skin within each of its tiny treatment “columns. Fraxel re:pair is used to reduce the appearance of moderate to severe wrinkles and extensive sun damage. Its results are more dramatic than those achieved with the non-ablative Fraxel lasers, but the healing process is closer to a week, compared to 24 to 48 hours with Fraxel re:fine and Fraxel re:store.

How Many Sessions Will I Need?
On average, an effective treatment regimen is three to five sessions, spaced about two to four weeks apart. Depending upon your condition and schedule, you may be able to space treatment sessions even farther apart. For Fraxel re:pair, which is a more aggressive treatment, maximum results are usually realized in just one treatment..

Safe and extremely effective, Fraxel is an excellent option to erase the signs summer aging from your face. Do you want to schedule your session or learn more? Contact the Paradise Valley Skin Klinic today.
